"Emotional favoritism"
Emotional favoritism is something many siblings carry quietly. It’s not always about who got more things — sometimes it’s about who got more tenderness, more forgiveness, more gentle understanding.
If you ever felt like you had to be the strong one so someone else could be protected, know this: you deserved softness too.
(It’s funny how "you’re the strong one" really just meant ‘you’ll figure it out alone.’ Thanks for that character development, I guess.)
It’s okay to feel it, name it, and heal it — little by little, breath by breath. May you find spaces now where your heart can rest, your feelings are safe, and your softness is finally allowed to stay.
And…….
If you ever had to clap for someone else’s endless second chances while parenting yourself — you’re not imagining it. You deserved all the softness you were denied back then. May you give it to yourself now, generously, like it should’ve always been given to you.
